The Society for Underwater Activities Vivera and the Slovenian Diving Association (SDA) re-join forces to organize the 28th ecological and cleaning campaign LJUBLJANICA 2019 on Saturday, 20 April 2019. As the main supporter, SPAR Slovenia joined the campaign for the second year in a row, also being the eco-sponsor of the SDA. Within the framework of its campaign Think ECOlogical, SPAR is committed to sustainable management and promotion of reducing the plastic bags consumption.
The cleaning action, which takes place each year on the Earth Day, will start at 9 a.m. at the BARJE Fishing House in Ljubljana, and end at 2 p.m. in the vicinity of Three Bridges (Tromostovje) in the city centre. The event organizers invite all those who want to contribute to the protection of the originality of nature and the cleaner Ljubljanica river and its shore to join. The cleaning program will be accompanied by a cultural program on the Cobblers’ Bridge (Čevljarski most) with Urška and the Water Man playing the main roles.
The action will be concluded with the analysis of the performance and a get-together at the traditional goulash at the BARJE Fishing House.
The program of LJUBLJANICA 2019 (9 a.m. to 14 p.m.):
- Registration of participants
- Handing over the instructions to all participants at the Fishing Home (Hladnikova cesta 11) opposite of Livada
- Snack and tea for all participants
- Preparation of divers, boat drivers and other assistants
- Co-workers in boats accompanying divers and helping in lifting
- Volunteers participating in cleaning the Ljubljanica riverbank
- One of the radio stations following the action in real time
- Presence of the media
- The company of KPL helping to gather the material from the river on the Cobblers’ Bridge where people will be able to see it at 13 p.m.
- Removal of material to an official landfill
- Presentation of members of participating associations
- The Water Man takes Urška into Ljubljanica near Three Bridges (a symbolic representation and a warning that our handling of nature and the attitude towards our environment is already very critical)
- The action will be concluded at the BARJE Fishing House with the analysis of the performance, get-together at the traditional goulash and the award to the co-worker of many years at the 28th anniversary of the action
