Award for the local community-friendly company goes to Velenje
Plastika Skaza was named a local community-friendly company at the Golden Stone conference. This special award, given in the joint project called Good Company by the Golden Stone and Slovenian Business Club, recognizes this company from Velenje for its important contribution to the development of a wider community at the local level. Skaza demonstrates the latter through its sustainable orientation, numerous socially responsible projects and innovative solutions, which are friendly to people, communities and nature.
Golden Stone and Slovenian Business Club solemnly announced the winner of their joint Good Company project, which aims to build bridges between businesses and municipalities. The organizers awarded Plastika Skaza from Velenje with a local community-friendly recognition, as the company convinced the jury with its original and comprehensive contribution to the development of the wider community at the local level.
Skaza is one of Europe’s most inspiring companies with its sustainable focus and social responsibility at the heart of its operations. Regarding social responsibility, it focuses on both its employees, who are mostly coming from the local community, as well as the wider community and environment.
The organizers also recognized their efforts and, in the explanation of the award, highlighted Skaza’s traditional A Child to a Child run, which brings together children from all over Slovenia in charity, while promoting a healthy lifestyle in cooperation with the local athletic club and sports association. Skaza also supports the wider community through numerous donations and sponsorships, with a particular praise for its business skills in selecting local projects. The Žegnan studenec (Holy Spring) project was pointed out as anexample of good practice as it aims to provide an additional source of drinking water for the municipality of Rečica ob Savinji. Besides various activities for employees and assistance to young people, the organizers also placed great emphasis on Skaza’s strong environmental awareness. They are a leading company in their industry in using eco-friendly materials and operating on the principles of a circular economy, almost entirely producing energy on their own for their operation.
“All these activities contribute to a better quality of life in the local environment, while at the same time are very meaningful business practices that also benefit the company. And this is what is the most typical of Plastika Skaza: social responsibility is so intertwined with the company’s business goals that both components are virtually inseparable,” they stated.
Upon receiving the award, the company’s CEO Bart Stegeman announced that they will continue to invest in people and the community in the future, operating on the principles of sustainable development; as their next step, he pointed out efforts to promote bio-based products in the electrical and furniture industries. “We at Skaza are aware that achieving social changes begins with ourselves, which is why we have dedicated our mission to developing innovative products and solutions that positively influence the environment and contribute to solving societal challenges. We are proud of the recognition for a local community-friendly company, which confirms that we are on the right track.”
