Among the best Slovenian employers

Since 1991, the independent Top Employers Institute from the Netherlands has been awarding certificates to confirm the excellence of HR practices. This year’s award was received by four Slovenian employers, including Tobačna Ljubljana, which received two awards – Top Employer Slovenia and Top Employer Europe. In addition to all this, it ranks among the best employers in its category in the Golden Thread Project.

From employer to Top Employer

The Top Employers Institute is regarded as the global authority in the field of recognizing the excellence of HR practices. Through a rigorous certification process, it evaluates the excellence of workplace conditions that organizations offer to their employees at work and in their professional and personal development. The assessment covers the main areas of personnel policy, based on which the Institute selects award-winning companies. This year’s survey found that Tobačna Ljubljana provides exceptional standards and practices related to their employees, thus demonstrating a leading position in the human resources field in its environment. Since Tobačna Ljubljana is member of the British group Imperial Tobacco, which has received a prestigious certificate also in six other European countries, it also holds the Top Employer Europe certificate.

The finalist of the Golden Thread Project

The prestigious titles had been accompanied by this year’s positioning among the finalists in the category of medium sized enterprises of the best employers’ project, the Golden Thread. The project aims at selecting and recognizing best employers of the year, as well as the quality of the relationship between the organization and its employees. The Golden Thread with the selection of the best employee of the year and the two competitions – An Elderly-Friendly Company: Still Enthusiastic Over the Years and the Golden Practice – puts light on companies that are aware of the importance of individuals for the company’s development and are prepared to make the most effort to satisfy employees at their workplace. The project was launched in 2007 at the initiative of Dnevnik, d. d. with the task to find the best Slovenian companies of the 21st century, where the employees can make their talents a reality and contribute to the success of the organization on the global market.

The success of Tobačna Ljubljana in the HR area was commented on by Pia Barborič Jurjaševič, Managing Director for Adriatic region, and Tomaž Maver, Deputy of Managing Director: “We are very proud of both awards. We are aware that enthusiastic co-workers are the key to the success of our company. We offer attractive and dynamic jobs in Tobačna Ljubljana, since, among other things, many of our colleagues in addition to Slovenia are responsible for other markets in the Adriatic region. We strive to create a culture in which employees are empowered as much as possible for their own development and are thus able to achieve outstanding results. Our personnel strategy is based on flexibility, capabilities and success of our employees.”
